Connect a CGM

Dexcom with Glide

G7, G6 and Dexcom One, through Dexcom Share. Last updated 30 September 2026.

Glide reads a Dexcom sensor through Dexcom Share, the same service the Dexcom Follow app uses. Once it is connected, every phone on the profile sees the same numbers, with the meals and doses the family logs drawn on the chart. Setup takes about two minutes and happens once, on the profile owner's phone.

Setup

  1. In the wearer's Dexcom app, turn on Share (Dexcom G7: Connections → Share; G6: Share tab).
  2. In Glide, tap Connect a CGM on a new account, or Settings → CGM on an existing profile. Pick Dexcom and enter the wearer's own Dexcom login.
  3. Pick the Dexcom server: United States, or outside the US. A Dexcom account exists on only one of them.
A Dexcom Follow login does not work. Follow accounts can only receive readings. Glide signs in the way the wearer's own phone does, so it needs the wearer's Dexcom username and password. Glide encrypts them and stores nothing else from the Dexcom account (privacy policy).

More than 10 followers

Dexcom Follow allows up to 10 followers per sharer. Glide does not use one of those slots: it reads through the wearer's own Share login, and family members join the Glide profile with an invite code instead. There is no limit on how many Glide followers a profile has. The Dexcom Follow app keeps working beside Glide for anyone who has it.

When readings stop

Dexcom's own FAQ says that while Follow shows No Data, it sends no notifications. Glide treats a gap as an event. After 30 minutes without a reading (you can set 15 or more), every phone on the profile gets a lost signal banner. Overnight, in the hours you choose, Glide can also ring your phone with a call, so a sensor that drops out at 2 AM does not stay silent until morning.

What you see in Glide

Live glucose, logging, followers and banners are free. Details on the pricing section.

If the chart stops updating

Glide stops when Dexcom Share stops. Check, in order:

  1. The Dexcom app on the wearer's phone is running and shows recent readings.
  2. Share is still on in that app.
  3. The Dexcom password has not changed. If it has, enter the new one in Glide under Settings → CGM.

When Glide cannot sign in, Home shows a banner that says Can't sign in to Dexcom. During a Dexcom Share outage every follower app goes dark at once; status.glidebg.com shows whether Glide's own pipeline is up. Anything else: support.

Glide is not a medical device and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Dexcom. Keep the Dexcom app's own alarms on; Glide's alerts sit on top of them and do not replace them.
