Dexcom G6 alarms not sounding

G6 alerts depend on phone settings: Bluetooth, app notifications, battery, and the Always Sound setting. Bluetooth headphones or speakers can take the sound away from the phone. (Dexcom user guide, p. 167; Dexcom user guide, p. 55; Dexcom user guide, p. 32)

What the maker says to do

  1. Keep Always Sound on so alerts sound when the phone is muted or on Do Not Disturb.
  2. Turn on Bluetooth.
  3. Allow Dexcom app notifications, including on the lock screen.
  4. Keep the phone charged and the app running in the background.
  5. Test the phone speaker and vibration regularly.
  6. After connecting headphones or a speaker, check where the alerts play.

A call when readings stop

Glide sends every phone on the profile a lost signal banner after 30 minutes without a reading, and overnight it can call a phone number you verify (Premium). How the lost-signal call works.
